ROCMND APRC Serving our CommunityOur Initiatives

ROCMND RPC works in communities to help them curb underage drinking, tobacco use, and drug abuse and misuse across the lifespan.  We work closely with coalitions in each of our 8 counties.  We have a passion to make our communities safe for our kids to grow and not undergo the pressures, the trauma, or the negative effects of drug use.  We also provide resources to the community, parents, teachers, etc.  We work on changing social norms that are accepting and permissive of substance abuse.

ROCMND RPC knows there are pressures out there and wants to offer you hope.  We bring those together that want to make their community and schools a great place.  We help start 2Much2Lose or SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) groups, that decrease underage drinking and tobacco use in their neighborhood.  These 2M2L and SWAT groups do a number of activities that help them with their endeavor.

For youth that have a problem with alcohol or other drugs, ROCMND RPC can provide referrals to needed services.  Those who use alcohol before age 15 are more than 5 times as likely to report alcohol dependence or abuse compared to people who first used alcohol at age 21 or older.

ROCMND RPC is a resource to adults.  We have information that is free and available. Sometimes new things are being introduced to youth and it is often too late before adults recognize the problem.  We strive to bring adults the resources needed to be a well equipped parent, teacher, coach or other adult caring for youth.  High school students who use alcohol or other substance are 5 times more likely than other students to drop out of school or to believe that earning good grades is not important.
